Credits are what a casting director spends to unlock a performer's phone number or email address, usually 1 credit for each. Paid casting director plans add credits every billing cycle, and any casting director, including on the free plan, can buy a credit pack. Credits you buy never expire.
Only casting directors use credits
Performers never spend or need credits. Applying to casting calls uses a performer's monthly application allowance, not credits.
What a credit buys
| Action | Cost |
|---|---|
| Unlock a performer's phone number | Shown on the button, 1 credit unless your plan sets otherwise |
| Unlock a performer's email address | Shown on the button, 1 credit unless your plan sets otherwise |
You are never charged twice for the same detail, and you are not charged for a phone number the performer has chosen not to share. Unlocking also needs a live casting call, whatever your balance. How contact unlock works walks through it.
Where credits come from
| Source | How you get it | Does it expire? |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | Included with a paid casting director plan, added at the start of each billing cycle | Yes. Unused monthly credits are lost when the next cycle starts, unless your plan rolls them over. |
| Rollover | Unused monthly credits carried into the next cycle, on plans that include rollover | Carried forward, up to one cycle's allowance |
| One-time | Welcome credits, on plans that include them, added once your email address is confirmed | No |
| Purchased | Credit packs you buy | No |
The free casting director plan includes no monthly credits. The number each paid plan includes is on the casting director pricing page.
Yearly plans get the year's credits up front
On a yearly plan, the whole year's allowance is added at the start of the billing year, rather than a month at a time. It still resets when the next billing year begins, so plan to use it within the year.
The order credits are spent in
Castkro always spends the credits most likely to be lost first, so nothing you paid for goes to waste:
- Monthly credits, because they reset at the end of the cycle.
- Rollover credits.
- One-time welcome credits.
- Purchased credits, last, because they never expire.
How to buy a credit pack
- Select Get more credits. It is on your Credit history page, and it also appears on your dashboard or in a performer's Contact panel when you run low. It opens One-time purchases.
- Under Credit packs, compare the packs. Each card shows the price and the price per credit.
- Select Buy now on the pack you want.
- Pay on the secure checkout page.
- The credits are added to your balance once the payment is confirmed.
Your receipt or tax invoice appears on your Billing page. See Finding your invoices, receipts and GST details.
Checking your balance and history
- Your balance shows on your dashboard, on One-time purchases, and in a performer's Contact panel, for example You have 20 credits.
- Credit history lists every credit added or spent, with the date, the performer, and the balance before and after. Open it from View credit history on your dashboard.
FAQ
Can I buy credits on the free plan?
Yes. Credit packs are sold to every casting director, whatever their plan. You still need a live casting call before you can spend them on an unlock.
Do bought credits expire if I cancel my plan?
No. Purchased credits never expire, with or without a plan.
Why did some of my credits disappear at the start of the month?
Those were unused monthly credits. They reset at the start of each billing cycle unless your plan includes rollover. Credit history shows them as Credit Expiry.
I am a performer. Why can I not see a credit balance?
Performers do not use credits. Nothing on Castkro charges a performer credits, so there is no balance to show.
I paid for a pack but my balance did not change
Credits are added when the payment is confirmed, which is usually immediate. If they have not appeared after a few minutes, check that the purchase shows on your Billing page, then write to us through the contact form and choose Credits.
