How to Apply for an Acting Audition Online

Open a casting call, choose your role under Apply for a role, add a short note if you like, and tap Apply now. Applying is free, most calls only ask that you have a headshot, and the free plan includes 15 applications a month.

On Castkro you give an audition online by applying to a casting call. The casting director reviews your profile and note, and if they want to take you further, they get in touch through Castkro. You do not need to travel or book a slot to apply.

Before you apply

• A performer account. Sign up and choose Performer / Artist. If you are signed in as a casting director, the listing says only artists can apply.
• A headshot. Casting calls on Castkro's standard requirements will not take an application without one, and a call can ask for more.
• A profile worth opening. Casting directors click through to your profile before anything else. Photos, a bio and your role types make the difference.

Apply step by step

1. Open Casting Calls and tap a listing.
2. Check Applications close under the title, and read the Roles section.
3. Find the panel headed Apply for a role.
4. In Role, choose the part you are applying for. Each option shows the role's name, role type, gender and age range.
5. In Describe why you're the best fit, add a short note. It is optional and takes up to 500 characters.
6. Tap Apply now.

A note that helps looks like this:

I am a 26-year-old Mumbai-based actor fluent in Hindi and Marathi, with two years of theatre and one short film. I can shoot all three weeks in November.

When it works, you see Application Saved Successfully, the page reloads, and the role appears under Your applications in the same panel.

If you see a checklist instead of the form

Some casting calls ask for more than a headshot. If your profile does not meet that yet, the Apply for a role panel says This casting call asks for a few things before you can apply, with a list such as:

• Add a headshot
• Add 2 more photos (1 of 3)

Tap an item to open that part of your profile, fix it, then come back and apply. These are profile basics, so fixing them helps with every casting call, not only this one.

Sometimes the form does appear, with a section underneath headed Strengthen your application. You can apply straight away. That list is what the casting director would also like to see, and adding it makes your application stronger.

How many applications you get

These are the performer plans. Casting directors have their own plans, and some share a name.

When you run out, Apply now shows a message such as You have used 15 of 15 applications per cycle on your current plan., with a link to see plans.

After you apply

Open Applications in the main menu to see everything you have applied for on the My Applications page. Each application shows where it stands:

While an application still says Applied, you can tap Edit to change your note or Withdraw to take it back. Once the casting director has viewed it, it stays as it is.

When a casting director invites you

Casting directors can also invite you to a role. Invitations sit at the top of My Applications under Waiting on your answer, and in the Invitations tab.

1. Open Applications.
2. Read the role under Waiting on your answer.
3. Tap Accept or Decline.

Accepting an invitation to apply puts you straight into the casting director's list for that role. Because they asked for you, you can accept even when you have used all your applications, and the casting call's checklist does not apply. The accepted invitation does count towards your total for the month afterwards.

Applying for your child

If you are a parent or guardian, you apply on your child's behalf. On a listing, the panel says You apply for roles on behalf of a child you look after. Tap Choose whose profile to use, pick your child, then return to the casting call and apply as above.

FAQ

Is it free to apply for auditions on Castkro?

Yes. The free performer plan includes 15 applications a month, and no casting call can charge you to apply.

Can I apply for more than one role in the same casting call?

Yes. Apply for each role separately. You can apply to each role once.

Why does it say "This Job is no longer accepting applications"?

The casting call has closed, or it is no longer published. Look for another call under Casting Calls with Availability set to Open.

Can I change my note after applying?

Yes, while the status is still Applied. Open Applications, find the role and tap Edit.

When will I hear back?

That is up to the casting director. Check My Applications for the status. Viewed by casting means they have opened it, and Shortlisted means they are interested.

Does applying use credits?

No. Performers never spend credits. Applications come out of your plan's monthly allowance, and credits are only used by casting directors.
