Post a casting call

You will be asked to sign in first. We will bring you straight back to this step.

Roles live on step 2 of Post a casting call. Pick On-screen, Off-screen or Voiceover, fill in the role form, and tap Save role. A casting call needs at least one saved role before it can publish, and there is no upper limit.

Before you start

A role is one part you are casting. Performers apply to a role, not to the whole call, so give each part its own role rather than one catch-all.

Have these ready for each role:

  • Where the role appears: on screen, off screen, or voice only
  • A role type and a gender
  • The age range you would genuinely consider
  • How many people you need
  • A short description and at least one skill

Step 1: Open the Roles step

For a new call, tap Post a Call in the menu, complete Production basics, and tap Next.

For a call you have already posted, tap My Casting Calls in the menu, tap Edit casting call on the call, then tap Next on Production basics.

You will see Roles you're casting, with any roles already added listed as cards.

Step 2: Choose where the role appears

Under Add a role, tap one of the three buttons:

The Roles step of the casting call wizard, with one role added and buttons to add an on-screen, off-screen or voiceover role

Button Use it for Example
On-screen Anyone who appears in front of the camera A lead actress in a Hindi web series
Off-screen Crew and production roles A choreographer for a music video
Voiceover Voice-only work A Hindi dubbing artist for an animated ad

The role form opens as Add a role. You can still change Where does this role appear? at the top of the form.

Step 3: Fill in the role form

Every field is required. The form scrolls, so check below the age range for the description and skills.

Field What to put Example
Role type The kind of work. The list changes with where the role appears. Actress
Gender Who can play the part. All Genders is not offered for Actor or Model. Female
Character name The character, or a plain label. At least 5 characters. Meera
Number of vacancies How many people you need for this role. 1
Lower age and Upper age The range of ages the performer should be able to play on screen. 26 and 32
About this role Who the character is and what you need. At least 20 characters, up to 1,000. See below
Required skills At least one skill. Start typing to search. Acting
Nudity required Tick only if the role genuinely requires it. Unticked

Off-screen roles do not ask for a character name or an age range.

A useful About this role for the example above:

Late twenties, a junior doctor in a Mumbai government hospital. Present in all six episodes, with long dialogue scenes in Hindi. Tell us about any long-form screen work you have done.

Limits on age range and vacancies

An age range can span at most 40 years, and one role can have at most 20 vacancies. A role with the role type Extra can span up to 80 years and carry up to 100 vacancies, because background casting needs a larger group.

Step 4: Save the role

Tap Save role. The role appears as a card on the Roles step. Tap a card to open it, then tap Edit to change it or Remove to delete it.

Cancel still leaves a draft role behind

Tapping On-screen, Off-screen or Voiceover creates the role straight away. If you then tap Cancel, an unfinished draft card stays on the list. A call whose only role is a draft will not publish, so either open the card and tap Edit to finish it, or remove it.

Step 5: Add the next role

Repeat Steps 2 to 4 for each part. When every role is saved, tap Next to move on to Audition & logistics.

Split parts rather than widening one role

If you are open to casting a part two very different ways, add two roles instead of one role with a very wide age range. Each role reaches performers who match it, so two focused roles bring a shortlist you can actually use.

FAQ

How many roles can one casting call have?

As many as you need. There is no limit on the number of roles.

Why can't I remove a role?

Castkro will not let you remove the last role on a call, because a call with no roles cannot publish. If you tap Remove role on the only role, the role stays where it is. Add the replacement role first, then remove the old one.

Can I add a role to a casting call that is already live?

Yes. Tap My Casting Calls, tap Edit casting call, and add the role on the Roles step. The call is checked again after the change. A live call stays visible while that check runs.

Why doesn't All Genders appear in the Gender list?

It is not offered when the role type is Actor or Model. Choose Male, Female or Other, or add a separate role for each gender you want to see.

Why can't I set the age range I want?

The range can span at most 40 years, or 80 years for an Extra role, and the upper age has to be higher than the lower age. If you need a wider range than that, add a second role.
