Setting Required and Preferred Applicant Standards
On the Audition and logistics step, pick a Minimum standard under Who can apply. Required items stop anyone who falls short from applying. Preferred items let them apply but mark them Below preferences for you.

On the Audition & logistics step of your casting call, go to Who can apply? and pick a Minimum standard. Its required items stop anyone who falls short from applying. Its preferred items let them apply, and mark them Below preferences in your Application Manager.
How a standard works
A standard is a named set of profile checks that Castkro maintains. You choose one for each casting call. You cannot write your own checks.
Each check in a standard is one of two kinds:

| Required | They cannot apply. Your call's page shows them a checklist of what to add first, such as a headshot or more photos. |
| Preferred | They can still apply. Their application carries a Below preferences badge so you can find it. |
Checks look at the performer's profile, for example whether they have a headshot, how many photos and videos they have, whether they have listed their skills, and how complete the profile is.
Step 1: Open the Audition and logistics step
Start a new call with Post a casting call, or open an existing one from My Casting Calls with Edit casting call. Go to the third step, Audition & logistics.
Step 2: Pick a Minimum standard
Scroll past What does this pay? to Who can apply?. Open Minimum standard and choose one.
- Use the platform default followed by the default's name, for example Use the platform default (Open to all), follows whichever standard Castkro sets as the default.
- A named standard, for example
Complete profiles, fixes that standard to this call.
Under the picker, Castkro shows the standard's description and its required checks, for example Has a headshot, At least 3 photos and Profile at least 60% complete.
Your choice saves automatically with the rest of the call.
Pick the lowest bar you would genuinely accept
Every required check turns some performers away before you ever see them. Put a check in because you would reject an applicant without it, not because it would be nice. For a lead role where you expect hundreds of applicants, a higher bar saves you time. For an ad shoot that needs a particular look, a low bar and a good role description work better.
The difference between the default and a named standard
This matters if Castkro changes the default later.
- Use the platform default moves with the default. If the default is raised, your call asks for more from new applicants too.
- A named standard stays exactly as you picked it, even if the default changes.
If you do not touch Minimum standard at all, your call uses the platform default.
What performers see
A performer who is signed in sees what they are missing before they apply. In the casting call list, a call they cannot apply to yet shows how many things they need to complete. On the call's own page, the application form is replaced by a checklist, with a link to fix each item.
A performer who meets every required check but not every preferred one can apply straight away. They see Strengthen your application with the preferred items they are missing.
Find applicants below your preferences
- Open Applications and set Casting call to the one call you want. The filter only appears when a single call is selected.
- Tap Below your preferences. Only applicants who applied without meeting every preferred check are shown.
- Tap it again to see everyone.

FAQ
Do standards apply to people I invite?
No. When a performer accepts your invitation, their application is created without any standard being checked, because you asked for them by name. They never show Below preferences.
If I change the standard, what happens to people who already applied?
Nothing. Each application is checked once, when it is sent, and is never checked again. The new standard applies to applications from then on.
Some applicants have no badge. Did they all meet my preferences?
Not necessarily. Applications sent before a standard applied to your call, and applications from people you invited, were never checked, so they carry no badge either way. Only Below preferences tells you something: that applicant was checked and fell short.
Can I create my own standard, such as a language or a height?
Not today. You choose from the standards Castkro offers. To screen for a language, a look or a physical skill, say so in the role's description and use the role's age range and gender fields.
Does a standard cost anything?
No. Choosing any standard in the list is free on every plan.
