Add photos to your profile

You will be asked to sign in first. We will bring you straight back to this step.

Open your dashboard, find the Your Profile section, and tap Add photo or Add video. The free plan holds 6 photos and 1 video, and paid performer plans hold as many as you like. Each photo can be up to 10 MB.

Casting directors decide from your photos before they read anything else, so this is the part of your profile that does the most work.

How many you can add

Performer plan Photos Videos
Free 6 1
Starter Unlimited Unlimited
Spotlight Unlimited Unlimited
Elite Unlimited Unlimited

These are the performer plans. Casting directors have their own plans, and some share a name.

This is a count of what is on your profile right now, not a monthly allowance. Remove a photo and the space is free again straight away.

Add a photo

The Photos drawer on the dashboard with the add photo form open

  1. Open Dashboard from the main menu.
  2. Scroll to Your Profile, the section headed "This is what casting directors see".
  3. In the Photos row, tap Add photo. The Photos panel opens.
  4. Under Image, choose a photo from your phone or computer.
  5. Check the preview, then tap Upload Photo.

The photo appears in the panel, in the order you added it.

Photos can be JPG, PNG, WebP or BMP files, up to 10 MB each. A phone photo is almost always under that.

What to upload first

A mix of close-ups and full-body shots, with no sunglasses, caps or filters. A useful first set of four: one front-facing close-up in daylight, one three-quarter close-up, one full-length shot in plain clothes, and one shot that shows the kind of role you go for, such as a corporate look for an ad or a traditional look for a period drama.

Change your headshot

Your headshot is the round photo at the top of your dashboard. Tap the camera button on it, labelled Edit headshot, choose a photo and crop it. You see Headshot updated. when it has saved.

Changing your headshot this way does not use one of your photo spaces.

Add a video

On the website, a video is a link to a YouTube video, such as your showreel.

  1. Upload the video to YouTube first. Set it to public or unlisted, not private.
  2. On your dashboard, in the Videos row of Your Profile, tap Add video.
  3. In Add a showreel (YouTube link), paste the link to that one video, for example https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ.
  4. Tap Add video. You see Showreel added.

The link has to point at a single video, not a channel. If you paste a channel link you see Enter a link to a single YouTube video, not a channel, followed by an example.

No showreel yet?

An introduction video works well: a short piece to camera saying your name, height, city and why you act. Film it on your phone in good light, upload it to YouTube, and add the link.

Remove a photo or video

  1. In Your Profile, tap Manage (the pencil button) next to Photos or Videos.
  2. Tap Remove under the one you want to take down.
  3. For a photo, confirm with Delete when you see Delete this photo?

Removing a photo cannot be undone, but it frees that space for another one.

When you reach your limit

On the free plan, the seventh photo or the second video is refused with a message such as You have used 6 of 6 portfolio photos on your current plan. and a See plans link. You can either remove one you like less, or look at the performer plans.

If you were on a paid plan with more than 6 photos and it ended, you keep every photo you already added. You just cannot add another until you are under the free limit.

FAQ

How many photos do I need to show up in search?

At least four photos, plus a headshot, a bio of 100 or more characters, a role type and 70% completion. Why your profile is not showing in search has the full list.

Can I upload a video file instead of a YouTube link?

Not from your dashboard. The website takes YouTube links for your portfolio. Where a video file is uploaded directly to your portfolio, it can be up to 100 MB and 45 seconds long. Castkro Perform, where you record yourself performing a script, takes its own uploads with different limits.

Why was my photo refused?

It is either over 10 MB, not an image file, or you have reached your plan's photo limit. The message in the Photos panel says which.

Do the photos I added when I signed up count?

Yes. Every photo in your portfolio counts, including the ones added while you set up your profile.

Does a YouTube link count towards my video limit?

Yes. Each link you add is one video, so the free plan holds one showreel link. Remove it and you can add a different one.
