Managing a Child's Profile as a Parent or Guardian

Verify your phone, open Child profiles and select Add a child profile. You then act for your child to build their profile, apply and reply to messages, and hand the profile over when they turn 18.

Verify your phone number, open Child profiles, select Add a child profile and enter your child's name and real date of birth. Castkro then switches you into your child's profile so you can build it. From then on you act for your child whenever you choose them, and you hand the profile over when they turn 18.

This article is the how-to. Castkro's policy for performers under 18 explains the rules behind it: what casting directors see, and what stays private.

Who can manage a child's profile

  • You must be 18 or over, with your own Castkro account. Your child never gets a login of their own.
  • Your phone number must be verified. We use it to confirm an adult is responsible and to reach you. Until it is, Child profiles shows Verify your phone number first with a Verify my number button.
  • A casting director account cannot add a child. If you cast as well, use an account that is not set up as a casting director.
Signing up for the first time?

On the sign-up page, choose Performer / Artist. If you type your child's date of birth first, the form asks Is this account for you, or for your child? Choose This is my child, then fill in Your own details. Your account is created in your name and you go straight on to setting up your child's profile.

Step 1: Add your child

The Add a child profile form with fields for the child's name, date of birth and your relationship

  1. Open Child profiles from the account menu. If your account is a parent or guardian account, Dashboard takes you there too.
  2. Select Add a child profile.
  3. Fill in the form.
Field What to put Example
Child's first name Their real first name. You can use a stage name on the profile later. Aarav
Child's last name Optional, but casting directors expect it. Mehta
Date of birth Their real date of birth, not the age range they can play. It cannot be edited afterwards. 14/03/2014
Your relationship to this child Parent, Legal guardian or Other legal guardian. Parent
  1. Tick I am the parent or legal guardian of this child, and I consent to Castkro holding and processing their information on their behalf.
  2. Select Create profile.

You will see a message that your child has been added, and you are taken straight into setting up their profile.

Check the date of birth before you save

A child's date of birth decides how Castkro protects them, so it is locked once saved. If you enter it wrongly, write to us through the contact form rather than creating a second profile.

Step 2: Build the profile as your child

While you are acting for your child, a bar across the top of every page says You are acting for followed by their name. Everything you do there is for them: photos, videos, skills, experience, applications and messages.

  • To come back to a child later, open Child profiles and select the button carrying their name, for example Continue Aarav's profile. A profile you have not started shows Set up Aarav's profile instead.
  • To go back to your own account, select Switch back to my own account in the bar.
  • If you manage more than one child and open something like your applications, Castkro asks you to pick which child first, then takes you on to where you were going.

Each card on Child profiles shows how complete the profile is. Casting directors cannot find an unfinished profile, so finish the setup before expecting invitations.

Step 3: Apply, message and get notified

  • Applying. Act as your child, open a casting call and apply exactly as any performer would.
  • Messages. Casting directors who message your child's profile are talking to you. Act as your child to read and reply. The conversation shows them that the performer is under 18 and that a guardian reads every message.
  • Emails. Anything about your child's profile comes to your email address. Their profile does not have a working email of its own.
  • Contact details. A casting director who unlocks the phone or email on your child's profile receives yours.

Paying for your child's plan

A plan belongs to one profile, so each child is subscribed separately.

  1. Act as your child (the bar should say You are acting for with their name).
  2. Choose a performer plan on the pricing page and pay as usual.
  3. Your card is charged, and the plan applies to your child's profile. Your Billing page lists it under Plans you pay for.

To cancel it, act as your child, open Billing and select Cancel subscription. How to cancel your Castkro plan covers what happens next.

Showing casting directors a checked adult

Once you have at least one child profile, Child profiles may offer Verify my identity. If you complete the DigiLocker check on your own account, your children's profiles show Guardian identity verified. A child's profile can never be ID verified itself. Getting the Identity verified badge explains who is eligible.

When your child turns 18

Nothing changes on their birthday. You keep managing the profile until you choose to hand it over.

  1. Open Child profiles. From their 18th birthday, their card shows Hand this profile to followed by their name.
  2. Enter an email address they can open, for example aarav.mehta@gmail.com. It cannot be yours, and it becomes the address they sign in with.
  3. Tick the box confirming you understand the account becomes theirs once they set a password.
  4. Select Email Aarav the link.

We email them a one-time link that works for 7 days. Until they open it and choose a password, you still manage the profile. After that it is theirs, with its photos, applications and history, and you can no longer act for them.

FAQ

Can my child log in with their own password?

No. A child's profile has no login of its own. Only you sign in, and you act for them. They get their own login when you hand the profile over after they turn 18.

I cannot see Add a child profile. Why?

Either your phone number is not verified yet, or your account is set up as a casting director. The Child profiles page tells you which. Select Verify my number to fix the first.

Can I correct my child's date of birth?

Not yourself. It is locked once saved because it decides how the profile is protected. Write to us through the contact form with the correct date.

Does my child's plan cover my other children too?

No. Each child's profile needs its own plan. Act as each child in turn to subscribe them.

My child already made an account on their own. What now?

If they entered an under-18 date of birth, no account was created and we emailed you a link to set their profile up. Signing up when you are under 18 explains that link.
