For casting directors
Verifying Your Account: What It Unlocks
A verified phone number lets you message performers. The free Identity verified badge builds trust, and Castkro may ask for it before you see more applicants or unlock more contacts. Posting casting calls needs neither.

For a casting director, a verified phone number is what you need to message performers. The Identity verified badge is a free trust signal performers see on your profile and casting calls. For everyone's safety, Castkro may also ask you to verify your identity before you see more of your applicants or unlock more contact details. You can post casting calls without either.
What each kind of verification does
| Verification | What it is needed for | What it is not needed for |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Adding any one-time welcome credits a plan includes | Signing in, posting casting calls, unlocking contacts |
| Phone number | Messaging performers, on every plan. Also needed before you can verify your identity. | Posting casting calls, unlocking contact details |
| Identity (DigiLocker) | The Identity verified badge on your profile and beside your name on your casting calls. When Castkro asks, also seeing more applicants and unlocking more contact details. | Posting casting calls, messaging performers |
| Registered business (GSTIN) | The optional Registered business marker on your profile | Anything else |
Paying does not replace verification
The phone requirement for messaging is the same on every casting director plan. A paid plan removes the limit on how many conversations you can start, but it does not remove the need for a verified phone number or a published casting call.
Confirm your email address
When you sign up we email you an activation link. Until you open it, your dashboard shows Verify your email address. If the email never arrived, select Resend activation email and check your spam folder.
Verify your phone number
- Open the account menu and select Account settings.
- On the Account tab, find Phone numbers and select + Add number.
- Choose the country code, type your number, for example
9820012345, and select Add. - For an Indian (+91) number, we send a code by SMS. Type it into Verification code and select Verify. No code? Select Resend code.
Numbers outside India may not be sent a code. If you are not asked for one, the number counts as verified as soon as it is on your account.
What messaging needs, in order
When you message a performer, Castkro checks three things, in this order:
- A verified phone number. Without it you see Verify your phone number to message talent.
- At least one published casting call. It can have expired. Without one you see Publish a casting call to message talent.
- A free conversation left, on the free plan. The free plan includes 3 new conversations for the life of the account. Paid plans have no limit.
Messaging talent: rules and limits explains the conversation limit in full.
What unlocking contact details needs
Unlocking a performer's phone or email does not check your phone at all. It needs a live casting call (published, and its listing expiry still in the future) and enough credits. Castkro may also ask you to verify your identity before you unlock more people. The Contact panel then says Verify your identity to keep unlocking contacts, and no credits are used. How contact unlock works walks through it.
The Identity verified badge
The badge says the person holding your account completed a government ID check through DigiLocker. Performers see it on your profile and next to your name on every casting call you post, and it is one of the first things a careful performer looks for.
It is free. You need a verified phone number and a profile at least 40% complete. Then open Account settings, go to Verification and select Verify with DigiLocker. Getting the Identity verified badge covers every step, and the optional Registered business check for your GSTIN.
Verify before you post your first call
You do not need a published casting call to verify your identity. Verifying first means your very first listing already carries the badge.
FAQ
Do I have to verify my identity to post a casting call?
No. Every new casting call is checked before it goes live whether or not you are verified. The badge is optional and does not change that review.
I verified my phone but still cannot message anyone. Why?
You also need at least one published casting call, and on the free plan a conversation left out of your 3. The message on screen names which one is missing.
Does the Identity verified badge get me more credits or conversations?
No. Credits and conversation limits come from your plan. Verifying does lift the limits Castkro may place on accounts that are not verified, such as how many of your applicants you can see or how many contacts you can unlock, but it never adds credits.
Can I choose my own profile link?
Yes, once you are verified. Every casting director gets a link like castkro.com/casting/your-name,
made from your first and last name. You can copy it from Edit your profile. A verified account
(the Identity verified badge or a registered business) can also select Edit there and choose a
different link. Your old link keeps working and sends people to the new one.
Can I remove the Identity verified badge later?
Yes. On the Verification tab, select Remove my verification. We delete the identity details we kept and the badge comes off straight away. You can verify again later.
I am outside India. Can I still message performers?
Yes. Add your number under Phone numbers. If you are not asked for a code, the number counts as verified once it is added.
