Castkro's Policy for Performers Under 18

Performers under 18 do not hold their own Castkro account. A parent or legal guardian creates and runs the profile, and casting directors who ask for contact details get the guardian's, never the child's.

A Castkro account has to be held by an adult. A performer under 18 needs a parent or legal guardian, who creates the profile on their own account and runs it. Casting directors who ask for contact details get the guardian's, never the child's, and a profile you create for your child has no login of its own.

Who counts as under 18

Castkro goes by a performer's real date of birth, not the age range they can play on screen. A 15-year-old who can play 16 to 22 is under 18 here. Once a date of birth is saved it cannot be edited, because it decides how the platform protects that performer.

Everyone who opens a Castkro account is asked for their date of birth. Somebody under 18 who tries to sign up themselves is not given an account. Instead we ask for a parent or guardian's email and invite that adult to set the profile up.

Setting up your child's profile

You need your own Castkro account, and you must be 18 or over. A casting director account cannot hold a child's profile.

  1. Verify your phone number. We use it to confirm an adult is responsible for the account and to reach you about it.
  2. Open Child profiles from the menu, then select Add a child profile.
  3. Fill in Child's first name, Child's last name and their real Date of birth.
  4. Choose Your relationship to this child: Parent, Legal guardian or Other legal guardian.
  5. Tick the consent box, then select Create profile.
  6. You go straight into setting up your child's profile: their photos, skills and experience, exactly as any performer would. To come back to it later, open Child profiles and select the button with your child's name, for example Continue Aarav's profile.
What the consent box records

Ticking it confirms you are the child's parent or legal guardian, and that you consent to Castkro holding and processing their information on their behalf. We record the date and the version of our terms you agreed to, alongside the profile.

What you can do as the guardian

While you are acting for your child, you use Castkro as their profile. You can:

  • Build and edit the profile, and add or remove photos and videos
  • Apply to casting calls and answer invitations from casting directors
  • Read and reply to messages sent to your child's profile
  • Pay for a plan for your child's profile, and cancel it
  • Hand the profile over when your child turns 18

Emails about your child's profile come to your email address. A profile you create for your child does not have a working email of its own.

What casting directors see

  • A notice on the profile. Directly under your child's name, the profile says it is guardian-managed, that the performer is under 18, and that all contact is handled by their guardian. Your name is not shown to casting directors there.
  • Your contact details, not your child's. A casting director who unlocks the phone number or email on your child's profile receives yours.
  • Messages that reach you. A casting director can message your child's profile, and you read and reply to that conversation.
  • Your identity badge, if you have one. If you complete an ID check on your own account, your child's profile shows Guardian identity verified. A child's profile cannot be ID verified itself.
A profile with no guardian cannot be contacted

If Castkro knows a performer is under 18 and no parent or guardian is managing their profile, casting directors cannot unlock their contact details, message them or invite them. The profile tells visitors it is awaiting confirmation by a parent or guardian. This mostly affects older accounts that were opened before we asked for a date of birth.

What stays private for under-18s

  • Their date of birth and exact age. Neither is shown publicly. The under-18 notice is shown instead of an age.
  • Star Score and trophies. These are hidden from everyone except you.
  • Castkro Perform videos. Performances by under-18 performers are not shown publicly.
  • Automated profiling. We do not add under-18 performers to automated ranking, matching or marketing email lists.

Casting calls are checked before they go live, and a call that seeks performers under 18 without a parent or guardian involved, or in conditions that would be unlawful for them, is declined.

When your child turns 18

Nothing changes on the day. You keep managing the profile until you choose to hand it over.

When you are ready, open Child profiles and select Hand this profile to followed by your child's name. We email a one-time link to the address you enter, your child chooses their own password, and the account becomes theirs. Their profile, photos, credits and applications stay exactly as they are. Until they set a password, nothing changes. This option is not available before their 18th birthday.

FAQ

Can my child have their own login?

No. A profile you create for your child is held on your account, and only you sign in. When they turn 18 you can hand it to them, and from then on it is theirs alone.

My child already had a Castkro account before this. What happens?

If an existing account tells us its performer is under 18, it is protected straight away: it is left out of automated profiling, and contact is restricted until a parent or guardian confirms it. The account shows a prompt to Invite your guardian.

Can I manage more than one child?

Yes. Add each child from Child profiles. Each one is a separate profile with its own applications, messages and plan.

Who pays for my child's plan?

You do. Open your child's profile, then subscribe as you normally would. The plan belongs to your child's profile, and your Billing page lists it under Plans you pay for. Castkro subscription plans explained covers what each plan includes.

How do I report a concern about a child?

Select Report on the profile, casting call or conversation and choose Concern about a child's safety. A person reads every report. Staying safe shows where each Report button is.
