Why Castkro Asks for Your Date of Birth

Castkro accounts are held by adults, so everyone gives a date of birth at sign-up. On a performer profile it cannot be edited once saved. If yours is wrong, write to support.

Castkro accounts are held by adults, so we ask everyone for a date of birth before an account is set up. It decides how the platform protects a performer, so on a performer profile it cannot be edited once it is saved. If yours is wrong, write to us and we will correct it.

When we ask

  • Signing up with an email. The sign-up form asks for Your date of birth before your email and password. The note under it says Yours because it is the date of the person holding the account.
  • Signing up with Google. After you choose your Google account, a page headed Your date of birth asks for it as the last step.
  • Older accounts. If your account was opened before we asked, you may be asked to confirm your date of birth the next time you sign in.

Pick the day, month and year, for example 14, March and 1998.

Why it cannot be changed later

Your date of birth is what tells Castkro whether a performer is under 18. That decides whether a parent or guardian has to manage the profile, and whether casting directors can contact the performer directly. If anyone could edit it, a child's profile could be switched to an adult's and lose those protections.

So a performer's date of birth is locked once saved. There is no date of birth field in Account settings, and a profile form that tries to change it shows Your date of birth is already on file and cannot be changed here. Contact support if it needs correcting.

Real age and screen age are different

Date of birth Screen age
What it is Your real age The age range you can play on camera
Example Born 1998, so 28 in 2026 22 to 30
Can you change it No, once saved on a performer profile Yes, whenever you like
Shown on your public profile Your age in years, never the date itself Yes

Casting directors search on screen age. Set it to the range you would genuinely be cast as, which can sit well below or above your real age.

If you are under 18

Castkro does not give an account to anyone under 18. If you enter a date of birth under 18 at sign-up, we ask for a parent or guardian's email and invite that adult to set your profile up. You cannot hold a casting director account under 18.

Signing up if you are under 18 explains what happens next, and Castkro's policy for performers under 18 covers what a guardian can do.

If you entered it wrong

  1. Open the contact form.
  2. Under Reason, choose Account & login.
  3. Use the email you sign in with, so we can find your account.
  4. In Message, give the date on file and the correct one, for example: My date of birth shows 14 March 2008 but it is 14 March 1998. I typed the year wrong at sign-up.
  5. Select Send message.

A person on our team makes the correction. You cannot change it yourself, because this date is what protects performers under 18.

FAQ

Is my date of birth shown on my profile?

The date itself is never shown. An adult performer's public profile shows their age in years as Age, next to Screen age. For a performer under 18, neither the date nor the age is shown.

My account says I am under 18 but I am not. What do I do?

Write to us through the contact form with the reason Account & login, as above. A profile recorded as under 18 shows This account is already recorded as belonging to someone under 18 if you try to enter an adult date yourself.

I am setting up my child's profile. Whose date of birth do I enter?

At sign-up, your own. You then enter your child's real date of birth when you add their profile. Managing a child's profile as a parent or guardian walks through it.

Why does a casting director account need a date of birth?

Casting directors book performers and take responsibility for them on set, so a casting director has to be 18 or over.
